POSITION SUMMARY: 

The Associate Director of Education’s (ADE) role is to develop, promote and implement the vision and mission for in-school and professional learning programs for the Alliance Theatre Education Department. This includes working closely with the Director of Education/Associate Artistic Director to set a course for growth for the department and to ensure program impact and quality. Specifically, the ADE will manage the Alliance Arts for Learning Institute, provide professional development for teaching artists, implement a research and evaluation strategy for all programs, and advocate for theater education locally and nationally.

 

Work Schedule:

·       Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.; some evenings and weekends

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

Supervise Alliance Arts for Learning Institute

·       Manage staff and their focus areas

o   Early education

o   1st – 5th grade

o   6th – 12th grade

o   Pre-service

o   Theater specialists

·       Curriculum design

o   Adapt existing or develop new programming to meet immediate and specific needs of educators

·       Connect the Institute to other Alliance initiatives

o   Family Engagement

o   Alliance production season

o   The Acting Program

·       Key partnership development and maintenance

 

Provide Teaching Artist Professional Development for all Alliance Education faculty

·       Recruit

·       Train

·       Monitor quality

 

Perform Theater Education Advocacy

·       Expand Alliance Education national profile

o   Serve on national panels

o   Present Alliance methodology at national conferences

·       Key partnership development and maintenance

·       Stay connected with key stakeholders

o   Represent department locally and nationally

o   Represent department internally

·       Stay abreast of local and national educational research and policy

·       Assist in prospecting and writing of education focused grants

 

Implement Research, Evaluation and Assessment for all Alliance Education programs

·       Develop strategy

·       Engage consultants

·       Implement strategy across program areas

·       Disseminate research findings locally & nationally

 

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

·       BA in Theater or Education, MFA strongly preferred

·       At least 5 years of experience in professional theater

·       Demonstrated success in curriculum design and delivery

·       At least 5 years of classroom teaching experience

·       Familiarity with the Common Core Georgia Performance Standards and Georgia Early Learning and Development Standards
